Many of our East Cape and Tairāwhiti whānau are affected by the rise of preventable chronic disease. Our dynamic systems approach provides an opportunity to look at the underlying causes of poor health. We look at how the systems that influence our everyday lives and the environments we live in play a role in our health and wellbeing.
Kōrero ‘nothing about me, without me’
It is about believing in the potential of people to come together around a common purpose to create change in their communities, places or across systems. We call this collective action. Working with our partners and community, we drive community-led change by connecting people and organisations to create the change necessary for good health and wellbeing. We support their leadership, enable them to take action and implement local initiatives and approaches to demonstrate that together we can create an East Cape and Tairāwhiti where whānau and communities are healthy and thriving.
“We want all New Zealanders to enjoy health promoting social and physical environments that enable healthy food and physical activity choices, being smokefree, reducing the harm from alcohol and increasing mental health resilience and wellbeing.”
